Can I use Claires Ear Care antiseptic to clean a new cartilage piercing instead of saline solution?
1. Claire’s doesn’t know anything about piercing! If they did, they wouldn’t be piercing young girls’ cartilage with post earrings. This type of earring is generally not long enough for cartilage piercings, making it difficult to clean! This can also cause keloids (bumps filled with puss and lymph) around the back of your piercing. The backs of the earrings also trap in skin and bacteria, making it a lot easier for infection! 2. The solution Claire’s gives you is watered down Hydrogen Peroxide for the most part, and it’s going to corrode your earring if you have a regular post earring in your cartilage (like the ones they pierce you with). Your best bet is to go to your local drug store and purchase contact lenses cleaner for sensitive eyes. For people who don’t have access to piercing shops regularly (we carry hundreds of bottles of saline!) you can use contact lense cleaner, which is nothing but saline!
