No. A mail exchange record is generally used to direct mail addressed to a domain name (user@mydomain.com) to the hostname or IP address of a mail server that is handling mail delivery for that domain. Redirecting mail is typically done by mail delivery and mail routing software such as sendmail. The easiest way to forward mail with sendmail is the use of a “.forward” file.
