Can I use an IP phone or Analog Telephone Adapter with most flat rate telephony service providers, such as Vonage?
Generally, flat rate or unlimited service providers require that you use the adapter or phone provided by them, which is locked to the specific provider. They do this in an effort to prevent abuse of their unlimited service. Some providers, such as Vonage, also have an addon “Open Access Plan”, which allows you to use any SIP device. If you are unsure, please contact your service provider to find out their restrictions.
