Yamaha AV receivers that currently support USB devices are intended to work with USB flash drives. Currently the only Yamaha A/V receiver that will work with an external USB hard drive is the RX-Z11. The RX-Z11 supports up to 2 terabytes, providing the drive is formatted in the FAT 32 file format.
