Can I use an emissive paint or coating to meet the radiant barrier requirement?

Not currently, as no products that we know of meet the .05 emissivity requirement of the code. The coatings that we are familiar with have an emissivity of between .25 and .3. Most builders use roof sheathing that comes with the radiant barrier already applied. If a builder has documentation showing that a coating meets the .05 requirement, it would be accepted.
