Can I use a non-Laplink USB cable for FileMover connections?

ANSWER No, it is not recommended to use a non-Laplink USB cable, since not all USB cables are intended to be data transfer cables, and could damage your port hardware. Non-Laplink USB data transfer cables may work for FileMover with their own network bridge drivers, but Laplink technicians cannot support their installation or troubleshoot their connectivity. Note: Such a USB network connection would be treated as a TCP/IP network connection in FileMover if configured correctly. To take advantage of FileMovers superior, non-network built-in USB drivers, you must use either the Gold Laplink USB 1.1 cable, the Silver Laplink USB 1.1 cable, or the Silver Laplink USB 2.0 cable.
