Can I use a Netgear DG834G as a Bridge on a Network?

Well, one quick way to attempt this is fairly easy. Turn off DHCP on the Netgear. Set a static IP outside the DCHP range of the main router. Setup the wireless SSID etc. Then Connect a cable to the LAN port of the unit which connects to the other router. See if you get response. (Depends on the firmware status of thd DG834 (some didn’t support “loop back”) which means this method won’t work! If it does you just use it this method! Otherwise I would say update the firmware with OPEN WRT http://wiki.openwrt.org/TableOfHardware?… Yours is supported with that version. There are two different chipsets in the 834G so check the list to be sure you have the correct load! Once that firmware is installed you can do about anything you like!
