Can i use a martingale in a ridden class show?

The only serious showing class that you will not get marked down for the martingale is the working hunter classes. For all other classes you want to have the simplest tack. Many small shows will allow you in the ring with the wrong tack as they are the starting ground for showing but should tell you what you need to do or change to improve. However, you are still likely to be marked down. oly you can decide whether you still want to go ahead either with the martingale and get marked down for it or without and get marked dow for is head throwing. Either way please make sure you are able to control him before the class otherwise it could be dangerous for you and other competitors. I agree with most of the other posts about retraining to teach him to lower his head and not throw it around. Yes it will take longer but in the long run it will make him more versatile and more comfortable to ride.
