Can I use a CGI script to generate both text and inline images?
Not directly. One script generates one response to one request. If you want to generate a dynamic page including dynamic images (say, a report including graphs, all of which depend on user input) then your primary script will print the usual and, just as in the multiple frames case, you can pass data to the image-generating program encoded in a GET URL. Of course, the same caveats apply: see above.
