can i use 555 timer as syncronous clock for counter??
ii know the frequency of the 555 timer is very low comparing with pulses generator device; need your opnion please thanks in advance Reply With Quote View Profile Advertising 07-02-06 16:30 #2 gliss Advanced Member level 2 Join Date Apr 2005 Posts 685 Helped 64 / 64 Points 5,727 Level 17 clock timer 555 Take a look at this schematic: http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/4761/555timer4pw.jpg frequency = 1 / ( 0.693*C( R1 + R2 ) ) HTH Attached Images • 555timer4pw_680.jpg (17.6 KB) Reply With Quote View Profile Advertising 08-02-06 01:46 #3 Sceadwian Full Member level 3 Join Date Sep 2005 Posts 174 Helped 13 / 13 Points 1,994 Level 10 syncronous clock == timer 555 hadef, depends on the application really, can it be used as a clock generator for a timer, yes. Is it ideal, definitly not. You could use a tiny11 or similar microcontroller (cost is 50 cents per chip, lower in bulk) in the same footprint to generate a clock up into the mhzs and still have a couple I/O lines that could be put to
