Can I travel to the US Embassy abroad and file an I-130 application directly with them?
Some consulates and US Embassies will let the citizen petitioner file an I-130 form directly with their center permitting the citizen petitioner to forego the I-130 filing. Although, the process is different in each consulate and lots of consulates make it necessary for the citizen to live in the country that the petitioner files the application.
