Can I transfer photos to my gigabeat? If so, how?

Yes. Connect the gigabeat to your PC via USB. Open WMP 11 and you ll see a music note icon on the top left hand corner of the screen. Once you click it, a list will scroll down with several commands (such as video , audio , picture exc.). Select picture and the system will be ready to synch photo contents (same process as transferring music).
