No, a domain must be current in order for it to be possible to transfer the registration. If your old Registrar has released the domain you will be able to register it through us. Most likely they have placed a 45 day hold on it in the hope that you will renew with them. If you do renew through them it will not be possible for you to transfer your domain for 60 days (it is treated like a new domain). You might also petition them to release the domain so that you could register it elsewhere. Bear in mind that you would risk losing the domain if you did this. Services like Snapnames exist to grab up popular domains as soon as they become available. The safest thing to do at this point is renew the domain through your old registrar. Then, once 60 days have passed, we hope you will consider transferring the domain to us. Any time you have purchased with your old registrar will transfer with it.
