Can I Take Over-the-Counter Drugs with Seroquel?
Determining whether you can take over-the-counter drugs with Seroquel, a prescription drug that treats manic depression, psychosis or schizophrenia, depends on what kinds of over-the-counter drugs you are considering. Generally speaking, most over-the-counter drugs do not react adversely with Seroquel, although you should avoid any products that contain alcohol, such as cough syrups. Considerations Although Seroquel interacts poorly with dozens of prescription drugs, such as some diabetes drugs, certain heart medicines and steroids prescribed for allergies, it does not appear to have any negative effects with widely available over-the-counter remedies. The one major exception is that Seroquel and alcohol do not interact well. Three of Seroquel’s side effects are drowsiness, dizziness and low blood pressure, and alcohol can intensify these side effects.
