Can I take my RAW file, process it at 3 different “virtual” exposures, export 3 Tiff files, then generate an HDR file from those three TIFFs?

That is a fairly common misconception. When you export your data from 12-bits down to 8-bits, you are losing/throwing out information. So each of the three TIFFs would have considerably less information. If you are really pressed to make an HDR, you will get better results from just converting your RAW file directly into a .HDR file. Once you have that, you can then tonemap it and get “more” information” visually from your original image. Back to top • Flares and Glares • Lens Flares Lens flares are affected by many things, but after a little testing, I found that lens flares DO get smaller in size if you shoot with a smaller aperture (ie: f22) which is the good news. The bad news is that this also causes the sun (assuming it is in the shot) to have very hard, distinct lines radiating from it. Certainly this may be artistically pleasing in some cases, but in others, it would create much more work in the post-processing stage to digitally remove them in Photoshop, for example. Similarly
