Can I take guaifenesin while I am pregnant or trying to conceive?
Pregnancy, trying to conceive, and guai are situations you should discuss with your gynecologist. Dr. St. Amand says it is safe to take 1200 mg. twice per day during pregnancy and conception attempts, but during pregnancy, the advice is always: Use nothing you don’t absolutely have to. Most obstetricians allow resumption, or beginning use of guaifenesin after the sixth month when the baby is fully formed. Breast feeding has no seeming effect on babies whose mothers take guaifenesin. However, you MUST clear everything with your OB-GYN.
