The active ingredient in Evening Primrose Oil is gamma-linolenic acid. This is thought to have anti-inflammatory and anti-thrombotic actions. Medications that it interacts with include anti-schizophrenic drugs, warfarin, aspirin and painkillers such as ibuprofen (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). If you are taking any of these I would avoid taking evening primrose oil. There are no documented interactions with blood pressure tablets.
