Can i take driving lessons if i have penalty points on my provisional licence (counter part)?
Yes! There is nothing to stop you having driving lessons if you already have penalty points and you can go ahead and take your Practical Test in exactly the same way as anyone else can! BUT… The 6 points you have on your provisional licence will be transferred onto your full licence when you pass your Practical Test. From the day anyone passes their Practical Test, they are then on a 24 month “probation period” under the Road Traffic (New Drivers) Act 1995 – this means that if you get 6 or more penalty points on your licence within two years of passing your driving test the DVLA will revoke (take away) your driving licence. Penalty points are valid for three years, so any points you already have on your licence before you pass the Practical Test count towards the total of 6.
