Can I switch branches, units, or specialities in the National Guard?

0

Transfers within the National Guard are handled by the units involved on a case-by-case basis. If you move further than 50 miles away from your unit, you will be allowed to transfer. You can change Military Occupational Specialities (MOSs) if the unit you are assigned to has a vacancy in the MOS you want and you can attend the training, if required. For prior service veterans joining the National Guard, your experience may qualify you for an MOS other than the one you held on active duty or you can attend the MOS training to obtain a new speciality.
