Can I store old / used batteries from home appliances and equipment in the waste containers?

No – only lead types of batteries should be stored in our waste containers (see “Batteries for collection” – link back to homepage). No Nickel Cadmium or similar other types of battery should be mixed with lead acid batteries to prevent any possible chemical reaction from taking place.
