Can I still submit my hair if it has been dyed, or coloured or premed?
If you colour or treat your head hair with chemical dyes or bleaches, or if you do not have enough head hair due to chemotherapy or genetics, it is recommend to use pubic hair or a sample of your finger nail. Make sure to clearly mark on the submission form the type of hair submitted. One patient submitted chest hair, and as hair analysis can be done for animals it is advisable to clearly mark your specimen.You can still submit head hair if it has been permed, dyed, or coloured. After you have purchased the hair or nail analysis, mark the indicated space on the submission form that the head hair submitted has chemicals on it. The lab then sets the parameters to consider that “false” chemicals may be present on your results.
