Can I still obtain a permit for special watering situations such as putting in a new lawn?
Yes. Please keep in mind, the City of Hays still does not allow outside watering between the hours of 12:00 noon and 7:00 p.m. from June 1 September 30. A permit will be required for the watering of newly seeded lawns or for other specified situations. Please call or refer to the City’s web site for a listing of use requirements involving the permit process . This permit process also applies to non-profit organizations raising funds through events such as car washes. Remember, while there is no cost for these permits, the customer will still be responsible for the total amount of water used, and conservation tier rates will apply. Permits are issued for water use involving individual, limited time period events. Permits will not be issued on a continuing or long-term basis. The City reserves the right to deny or discontinue permits requested or issued at any time.
