I represented a client recently who wanted to join the army. He was told that they don’t let people join the army if they have been sentenced to 3 or more years in prison. It’s not a law, perhaps just a rule of thumb and may vary from regiment to regiment but it’s a world away from no insurance. If you’re a new driver (less than 2 years) then you risk being banned for at least 6 months since you’ll get 6 points for no insurance and that leaves you liable to a “totting up” disqualification. 6 points is the limit for new drivers, otherwise it’s 12. Being banned from driving might be a factor but I really can’t see it preventing you from joining up. At worst they might ask you to wait until you get back on the road. At very worst. That’s the worst case scenario. I believe that you’ll be fine so chill out. Good luck in your career.
