Can I still get a epidural while taking lovenox?
I take Clexane injections twice a day which will be cut back to one a day in about 1 month. I have discussed epidurals with my OB even though I did not have one with either of my previous 2 pregnancies. He said that when you are on blood thinners you are not able to have an epidural due to the risk of bleeding into the spine is to great. He did say though if we plan the date of delivery we may be able to stop blood thinners a couple of days prior which might increase my chances of being able to have one but he would prefer that I didn’t because there are still risks involved. The best thing to do is speak to your Dr or midwife about it and see what they think they may be able to speak to you about other pain relief options also. Good luck with it all.
