According to the Spokane Humane Society, a total of 51 American Eskimo dogs have been brought to Spokane from Kennewick after more than 400 dogs were seized from a puppy mill there. All of the dogs seized will need some medical care and some will need extensive treatment. If anyone is interested in helping the Humane Society care for these dogs, here’s how you can help: – Donate now to help us provide medical treatment and lvoign care to these and other animals in need. Your contributions help provide life-saving options for thousands of animals annually. – Open your home and heart to provide a temporary home for one of these neglected dogs. These dogs have never been on a leash or have played with a dog toy; all will need lots of tender loving care. Contact Jenna Bell for more information on foster care. Ten Northwest shelters, including Blue Mountain Humane Society in Walla Walla, received dogs seized from the puppy mill. So far, the Benton-Franklin Humane Society and the Oregon Humane Society in Portland are the only shelters that have had American Eskimos available for adoption. Several dogs have found new homes in Portland, but there are still many available. Other shelters that have dogs are: Progressive Animal Welfare Society in Lynnwood, Multnomah County Animal Control, American Eskimo Heart Bandits, Spokane Humane Society, Spokane County Regional Animal Protection and SpokAnimal Care.
