Can I start with a Mountain Unicycle (MUni)?
You can learn to ride on any type of unicycle, but we don’t recommend off-road unicycles to beginners. Why? Because the knobby tread makes learning more difficult. (Imagine your first driving lesson in a 4-wheel-drive monster truck with huge knobby tires!) It’s best to start with a street unicycle with a smooth-tread tire. If you insist on making a MUni your first unicycle, order with a street tire for learning, then install a knobby tire after you’ve learned the basics. Once you’ve learned to ride, you’ll want to own the type of unicycle that most closely matches your preferred type of riding.
