As of 2008, a total of 10 shows (1 judge=1 show) can be counted for the Regional Show Program. A maximum of 4 shows (4 judges) outside the state of Kentucky can be counted. A mimimum of 2 shows (2 judges) is required to be eligible for points/monetary awards at the end of the year. Can I show at open shows outside of Kentucky and earn points? Yes. Currently there are no specifications as to where the open shows you compete at with your KY-Bred Appaloosa have to be held. The only required in-state show is the KApOA Open Show held in September. Can I breed my Appaloosa mare to a Quarter Horse stallion and certify the foal? No. Currently the rules state that in order to be certified as KY-Bred, a foal must be sired by an Appaloosa Stallion standing in Kentucky.
