Can I sell “fanart” as prints?
deviantART does not allow the sale of copyrighted characters or works. While users can upload fan art as a deviation in their gallery, they may not make fan art available for purchase as a print without violating copyright and trademark protections. Fan art that does not include any references to copyrighted materials in the description, and does not contain any copyrighted characters, places, or objects may be printed. For example you cannot sell a print of Jimmy the Drow Elf or Darth Deviant beating up robots, but you can sell a print of Jimmy, a dark elf with white hair or a character I created that likes glowing swords and robot fights. In other words, you can create your own characters and places as part of fan art but you cannot portray any copyrighted or trademarked materials.
