Can I seek employment as an interpreter with the ASL Studies degree?
No. The ASL Studies is really geared towards students who intend to pursue an undergraduate and graduate degree in the field of deafness. There are few employment opportunities with an AAS in ASL Studies beyond a position as a job coach or teachers aide. You will not be qualified to serve as an interpreter in any capacity with the ASL Studies degree. If you are interested in becoming an interpreter you must reapply for admission to that degree program and complete SL26, SL32, SL34, and SL43.
