While Sophos Anti-Virus recommends you to use on-access scanning, you can configure Sophos Anti-Virus to run only as an on-demand scanner. When installing, at the ‘Sophos Setup – Installation Type’ screen ensure that neither InterCheck for Windows 95/98 nor InterCheck Monitor are selected.
