Can I run a foreign-built motor on a J-D-R rotary phase converter?
Yes, but because of how foreign motors are made, you will need to order a rotary phase converter that is one size larger than you would need for an American-built motor. For example, if you have a 2 HP Chinese or Taiwanese motor, you should order our 3 HP rotary phase converter. Foreign motors require greater amperage for start-up than American motors, so you would need a bigger converter.
