Can I reverse or cancel a payment authorization that has not be finalized (batched)?

There is no way to cancel an authorization. It just expires after a 7 to 30 day period depending on the issuer. This is true for authorizations as well as sale transactions. For the sale however, a void does trigger a reversal but it is not always effective since the reversal support for auth reversal is patchy at best across issuers. If necessary, the card holder can contact their bank to have the authorization canceled.
