Can I restrict the scenario and the segment elements of an XBRL context fragment to contain different types of markup?
No. Both the scenario and the segment elements are defined by XBRL’s instance document XML Schema, with namespace “http://www.xbrl.org/2001/instance”, to be able to contain any markup whatsoever. As an instance document creator, you may using an XML Schema document of your own to define what kind of content is allowed in an XBRL scenario element. XML Schema validation will not be able to prevent that user defined markup from being used as content for the segment element. Such validation will have to go beyond XML Schema validation.
