Can i restart windows XP into DOS mode?

You can use the XP DOS Box. Just install and start it normally. Even the sound works very often fine, but it could be totally fast. If this does not work try E/OS, but only 0.30 is now what they claim it to be. It`s very unstable, but the FreeDOS Box should help you not to delete your Windows on C. That was a dangerous advice above! Or use an old harddisk and install DOS 6.01 on it. But then you need sound drivers and maybe OpenGL DOS and don’t forget the EMM386 and the memory problems we always had at that time. It would be easier to install Windows 98 I think. Or use Mandriva and try the DOSBox, but you need to go on easyurpmi to get the packages included. Or you gonna have to find every lib and get mad.

No… not unless you have: A. A boot floppy with DOS on it B. DOS installed on a partition and set up as a boot option. XP is NT-based and does not sit on top of DOS like Window 9x or earlier. You can access a DOS prompt from Windows XP by clicking on “Start” and selecting “Run”. In the run box type “cmd” and press “Enter”. Good luck.
