Absolutely! There is no requireent for you to have a hosting service set up in advance. In fact, it is very common for people to reserve domain names without hosting. All you have to do is go to any domain registrar and purchase the domain. Personally, I have always had good luck with www.dotster.com, but you can go with any registrar you like. Then, once you find a hosting solution that you like, you just inform the registrar of what DNS server your hosting company tells you to use, and all traffic to your domain will be directed to the hosting server.
