Can I request to activate the benefits now if my qualifying event occurred a long time ago?

As long as you were enrolled in Account Protection Plus at the time you became involuntarily unemployed, disabled or took an approved, unpaid leave of absence and you meet the criteria detailed in the Terms and Conditions, your request will be accepted. Upon approval, the benefit will be retroactive to the first date of your unemployment, disability or leave of absence. Because the leave of absence benefit was added on Dec. 1, 2001, any leave of absence that occurred before that date is not eligible for benefits.
