Can i remove the kitchen cabinets after my home has been foreclosed on?
YARNLADY is happy everyday Apr 9th, 2007 I think if you replace the cabinets, not simply remove them, it would probably be alright. You just can’t remove them and leave the kitchen bare. My sister bought a house from foreclosure where the former tenants had removed everything from the kitchen, including the kitchen sink, and two of the kitchen walls! They had tried to turn the kitchen into a large entertainment room. They also took the designer cabinets and fixtures they had installed in the bathrooms, leaving them both gutted. I don’t think the owner tried to prosecute them, but he took a tremendous loss on the sale, and Sis got a bargain of nearly one half the price of the comparable houses in the neighborhood. P.S. anything you do to reduce the value of the house could come back to bite you. I believe with most foreclosures, you have to pay the difference between what the house sells for and what you owe. It is to your advantage to hope it sells for more. Like (2 people like this.)
