Unfortunately you cannot remove the hard disk drive. Removing the hard disk drive will void your warranty and is not permitted when renting. If the hard disk drive is removed, you will be charged for the replacement cost of the Personal Video Recorder (PVR). In addition, to protect the creators of the programs you record, recordings are digitally encrypted. Only the Personal Video Recorder (PVR) can decrypt recordings for playback. You can record programs using a VCR.
