Yes, if it is “usb 1.1 compatible” and not just usb 2, but you may need a 2.6.x kernel and as such a native install with part of the hard disk dedicated to linux. This can be done ( see my lengthy explanation below. If you just want to record live tv a digital-tv usb stick will always record with a better quality AND lower bitrate (bytes per second). Typically speaking any usb 1.1 device should work on xbox linuxes just as well as with any other distro.
