NEMT services are covered if no other ride is available only for the following people: • KAN Be Healthy participants • Pregnant Women (for pregnancy related services only) • People going for renal dialysis, psychiatric medicine checks, or cancer therapy. • People receiving medical treatment more than 50 miles one way or 100 miles round-trip with documentation from your doctor stating medical necessity. You should: • Get approval before the trip from the Medicaid program or your Managed Care Organization (MCO)(non-commercial providers). Your MCO will have instructions for you to follow. • Go to the nearest facility to receive the needed service/treatment • Keep track of mileage (for non-commercial providers) • Log mileage ONLY when the member is in the vehicle • Return paperwork to the Medicaid program for payment • Contact a local commercial NEMT provider for transportation.
