Yes. The Opticon II machine is designed to work with technologies that require dual-dye detection systems, such as TaqMan and Molecular Beacons. Check Section 4 of the Opticon II machine Manual (“Technical Resources”) for compatible chemistries. The UDSF staff is currently working to optimize protocols for these applications and will help with all aspects of experimental setup downstream from probe design.
