Can I put young koi carp in a freshwater tropical tank?

Not a good idea at all. Not only are Koi cold water fish, but they can grow to 2 feet long or more. One adult sized Koi should have at least 1,000 gallons to itself and no less. Really, they are best for large ponds or someone who has an extremely huge tank. If kept in small and warm tanks, they will become stunted and die prematurely. That is not a good thing considering Koi can live for decades.
