Can I put Wood Chips on a Hill w/o it washing away?
Hi: I am a landscaper and designer. There are other options to wood chips for you hill. The one problem with wood chips is their weight. They are a very light weight material. You do have the options of planting some colorful evergreen shrubs on your hill. Since grass won’t grow, there are shrubs that do very well on slopes and hills. I live in a hilly part of the country, and I have planted on slopes with many clients. You can purchase Jute, which is a commercial landscape fabric. This is made specifically for slopes and inclines. It will help keep your shrubs in place and also help with erosion. You can apply pine straw or mulch to the area to finish up the project.
