The answer to your question is yes, you can put a subwoofer in your car with the Bose system. The factory system has no affect on any installation of a subwoofer. I have a 2002 Trans Am that came with a premium Blaupunkt system. I installed a subwoofer into my car, and had no problems. The only thing you are going to need is an amplifier, capacitor, and I would highly recommend a HO alternator as well, no matter what size system you have. The HO alternator will provide constant 14.4v of power which is the CEA readings of the amplifiers anyway. A regular alternator will only produce 12.4v to 13.3v constantly, which could ultimately deaden your alternator faster. To answer the second part of your question, Bose only specializes in home subwoofer applications, which theirs produces 16 ohm resistance. That is the ohm resistance most home systems use. They have not mentioned any production in automobile bass drivers as of recently. They use different wiring than the wiring found in car audi
