To open an account on Windows Live Messenger, you need an e-mail address, whatever address you have, yahoo, hotmail, your work e-mail address, it doesn’t matter. And yes, the people on yahoo can see you, but you have to add them to your contact list on WLM. I have both, Yahoo and Messenger, and in both I have the same e-mail address and I add all my contacts in both accounts and work really good.
