Can I put my new Betta Fish under a desk lamp to keep him warm.?
They do make very small fish bowl heaters if you’re concerned about the water temperature. They aren’t really necessary though. Here are 2 thoughts: If you have a tank with community fish in it, in other words – non-aggressive, you could TRY putting the Betta in there. I have a male Betta in with some swordtails and scissor-tail rasboras and he does just fine. This tank is heated and is 29 gallons so he’s got room to find his own space. Just be sure you don’t put him in with any species that have long, flowing tails or fins because they can mistake them for their own kind and try to fight. Never put them with goldfish. My second thought is to get a little 5 gallon setup from Wal-Mart. I have another Betta in one of those and he’s got his own heater, filter and even a pet snail. I hate how cold our house gets in winter so I felt sorry for my 2 Betta’s. That’s what I did for them and it’s worked out fine for me. I wouldn’t go the desk lamp route. It’s asking for trouble. Just remember th
