Can I put finish on my WoodWalks product?
Our WoodWalks are made of 100% reclaimed redwood salvaged from pickle brining tanks. They are durable and require no further finishes or wood preservatives. Left as is, they weather to a beautiful silver patina. If you would like to hold the deeper red and brown tones of these redwood products, we suggest you use a simple oil. Oil-based products that absorb into the wood are best. Because this wood often holds salts from its previous life in a brining tank, other finishes are not recommended. The salts are likely to repel other finishes, causing uneven absorption.
