Can I put any extra garbage, recycling or garden waste into plastic bags or boxes for collection?
No. All items for collection must be placed in the bins provided. Please do not overfill bins; the lid of the bin should be properly closed when placed on the kerbside for collection. What happens to the garbage after it is collected? Garbage from the Burwood Council area is transported to waste transfer station then it is sent to a landfill site where it is buried so that it will eventually bio degrade. Space is running out for landfill sites therefore it is vital that we divert as much material from landfill as possible.
