Can I Put a Chair Rail on Beadboard Paneling?
A chair rail is a strip of decorative molding that is placed at an average of 38 inches from the floor around the perimeter of a room. The chair rail provided two historical purposes: to prevent chairs from scratching the walls around a room, and to provide a decorative top to wood panels, such as beadboard. Such panels provided a cover for moisture that would wick up walls in homes before the introduction of modern building materials.
