Can I purchase surplus naval artefacts such as ships bells and crests?

A. Because of the long standing Canadian Naval tradition of giving newly commissioned vessels the names of old ships which have had a glorious history, it has become standard practice to install many artefacts from the former vessel on the new one. Therefore, ship artefacts, which we feel are an integral part of our naval history and heritage, are never sold or donated. Rather, they are retained by the navy and made available through long-term loan agreements to external organizations such as museums, Legions, veterans’ associations and municipalities usually who have an association with the ship’s name.
